The weather is perfect for taking long walks in the temporarily green, sunny yet chilly nature. In a few weeks this will not be possible anymore, so take the most of it. Breathe in that sunshine and drink in the green colours.

It's that time of year where my birthday has gone way too quickly in between all the busy university stuff and the last few warm days of the season are behind us. Hopefully. Because I cannot wait for the leaves to turn yellow and the sun to set earlier and the air to turn colder. I can't wait to put on my winter coat and be totally legal listening to Christmas songs. I like summer, but I absolutely love autumn and the anticipation of winter. I especially love the fact that it's now socially acceptable to wear tights. You won't see me wearing a skirt without tights even in summer, but now no one will look at me like I'm a total idiot. I love tights. I also get really excited about all the colours, I want sweaters in every one of these colours (from this tumblr blog):
I took a walk the other day which felt so much like autumn I had to take some pictures, and I ended up making a little video as well :)
I sincerely hope autumn comes quickly, I can't wait.

So october is filled with festivities based on the fact that autumn has really arrived and that it's Halloween of course. Unfortunately I live in The Netherlands and Halloween is really not a very big deal here. In America, and probably more other countries, Halloween is for everyone; young people and old people. It's a time to have fun, dress up and eat sweets with your family.
I think it's fair to say that Europe doesn't do Halloween. I think this is such a shame. I've never had a Halloween party or Halloween decorations. Since I've started to get really involved with the internet and learned about cultures around the world (that sounds weird, but the internet taught me a lot) I have become more interested in Halloween. Here are my tips for people in Europe or other countries where Halloween hardly exists to have a nice 31st of october after all!
First of all, you need a spooky film to watch. Some trailers:

I don't want to be stupid and name all the Tim Burton films, but try Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd. I don't like horror films, but if you want a hardcore Halloween, any horror film will probably do.
Secondly you'll need Halloween food and drinks. These are basically scary things. Chocolate in the shape of a spider, or you can make things yourself, like in this video:
Decorations. Now in my country there are only a few shops that sell Halloween themed decorations. Our country is focussed on a different holiday which I will explain an other time. I have found some videos to make the decorations too, not only if they're difficult to get your hands on, but it's also cheaper (probably):
These decorations are pretty cute, but the video is rather long. Still, worthwhile if you want these adorable mummy jars on your table!

You might recognise the picture above since it is my new banner. I have changed the look of my blog a little bit and I'm really happy with the result. I have made these pictures last sunday. It was a beautiful autumn day, probably the last weekend with all the coloured leaves on the trees. I expect the trees to be empty next weekend so I had to make some pictures of the nature reserve that's close to my house.
Also I have continued watching Once Upon A Time and started to love Little Red Riding Hood. I adore her character, both in Storybrooke and in the enchanted forest. She's smart, beautiful and funny. You can read here what I've written about the series before.
I will not give away any of the plot lines of Ruby, except that she is awesomely badass (if I might use that word).

Oh hello there kitty! This little man is called Frans. He's actually not ours, but he's been eating our cat food for over a year now, so we are like his foster family. He's such a sweet fellow!
Since it is autumn (finally), and autumn is my favourite season for shopping, I've been stuck on the internet looking for the perfect autumn accessories and clothes. I have bought quite a lot too, I must admit, but I can't buy everything I want.
I have only one bag that I use regularly; for work, shopping and whenever I go out of the house and need stuff that I can't fit in the pockets of my coat. Therefore I do not regret drooling over beautiful patterned, non-patterned, leather or faux-leather, red, blue, brown - basically any bag.

A few days back my sister went to the thrift store and found some beautiful shoes. They were a bit too big for her so she asked me if I wanted them. She took them with her (after all, who would leave shoes that cost only three euros all alone in a shop?) and I tried them on. They are also slightly too big for me, but I can at least walk in them.
It was a bit rainy this morning, but during a short sunny period of time I was able to make some pictures with my sister Mayke. She was kind enough to help me out by making pictures of me.
