First of all, I’d like to apologise again for not posting for a whole month. It saddens me greatly that I have
no time to do what I like best, which is writing. I do write a lot. Mostly
about the 17th of May in 1814, or about Vikings, or about
linguistics. But that doesn’t count, right?
Now I’ll write some more about Norway, but this time about something really fun. I went to Oslo! It was my first time ever in Norway, so it was very exciting. We went for five days, two of which were mainly travelling, so really three days in Oslo. We were a group of about sixteen students, all people who study a Scandinavian language. It was a nice group, sometimes we were hyperactive (table football at midnight, anyone?) and sometimes we just relaxed in our room at the hostel. Most of all we explored Oslo. We have seen lots of museums: The Munch Museum, a museum about Viking ships (very interesting, there were real ships which were found in burial mounts! And actual Viking skeletons!), Norsk Folkemuseum (lots of history) and Nationalmuseet. We’ve also had a little boat trip, we’ve been on top and in Operahuset, had a tour through Akershus Festning (wearing headphones to play the info in each room) and walked around Vigelandsparken (with lots of statues made by Vigeland). I've seen the ski jump thing from the olympics too, we went all the way up and had the most fantastic view of the Oslofjord. In the evenings, we watched Eurovision of course. We rooted for The Netherlands, who ALMOST won, Sweden, Norway and Iceland. I am quite pleased that Austria won, though.
On Sunday, the last day, we had a nice meal out with the whole group.
It was a fantastic weekend, it was great to see that Norway was a real country and that there were real Norwegian people. The proof is real, guys. It was awesome to get to know my fellow students a bit better. I was sad to leave, to be back in The boring Netherlands and our boring Dutch language. Luckily I’m going to Bergen in only ONE MONTH!!
Here are some of the pictures I made, I hope you enjoy them.
Arrival at the Oslo airport
Stortinget! The Norwegian parlement building
There were tulips everywhere in Oslo. No other flowers. Just tulips. Which was awesome, because they are beautiful flowers, and they had lots of different colours :)
On top of the ski jumping thing
I hope you enjoyed this, and that you can forgive me for slacking so horribly.
Have a fantastic day :D
Love,
Mia
Love your photos and I'm happy that you enjoyed your visit to Norway! :D Oslo is alright, but I bet you'll love Bergen even more - it's more quintessentially Norwegian! Maybe one day you could come to Trondheim and I could show you around. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice weekend! ♡
Thank you :) I'm super excited to see Bergen, all the pictures I've seen look stunning! I'd love to see Trondheim some day, and visit you :D One day I will ;)
