Taking a hike through the sand

Mia's Musings

Mum :)

After a nice walk, I decided it would be fun to take the hard way to get down to the forest. I was mistaken.

I've never had so much sand in my shoes before!

And this is all just around the corner!

Nancy Drew

One of my favourite films is Nancy Drew (2007). I love this film because it's kind of a detective. I love mysteries (I can't say it often enough) so this is a very perfect film, especially because Nancy always wears something vintage, or vintage-like. I also really love Ned, her best friend.
Emma Roberts is very good as Nancy!

Nancy Drew is one of the most popular detectives. People have been writing about her for many decades, making sure she's up to date. I love watching the old Nancy Drew series, with The Hardy Boys which you can find here.

For the love of Shoes

Hey everyone!

Finally. On thursday the 17th of march, my lovely shoes, (which I ordered at Urban Outfitters, as you can read here) arrived. I've been wearing them (almost) non stop ever since. I love them so much, they're absolutely perfect!

It's a while ago that I bought these shoes. And in the meantime I bought some other shoes :)

Of course I have more shoes, because I am a little bit addicted to shoes. I didn't photograph all my shoes, I've got too many.

You must recognise these! (I love them!) (h&m) (Probably ten euros)

H&M again :) (They were about fourty euros)

Other shoes, can't remember where I got them..

Love,
Mia

PS: This is the last shoe-post for a while :)

Making stuff!

Hi!

My sister is very cool. She has done a sewing course. It's basicly a course which teaches you how to sew. Therefor she has a lot of cloth to make clothes, and thus she has leftover material for me. I found a little video on how to make clothflowers. Very easy, apparently. I'm not very creative in things like that. I tried anyway, and I've made some pictures of the process. I'm rather proud of the results, so don't hurt my feelings by critisising, thanks :) Please feel free to make some lovely flowers of your own and show them to me!

I´m probably going to attach them to a bobbypin or a hairclip to make it really something usefull.

I made a necklace too! Well, I actually just took a piece of ribbon and ran it through the little hole in the hanger, so I kind of made it. I really love it, though. The hanger I got from my mum a very long time ago when she returned from her holiday in Israël.

By the way, I bought new shoes. I know. I´m stupid. But I love them :)

Love,
Mia

My favourite authors

Hello there!

This might be a very boring post: I'm going to talk about my favourite author.
Well, I don't actually think that my favourite author is very boring. If you'd ask me: Who's your favourite author? a few years ago, I'd have replied: 'JK Rowling, CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien' (Do you notice that they all have more than one name? It's not J Rowling, but JK. Would I be remembered as MA van den Hoorn? Who knows!) (Anyhow, off topic..)
Now I say:
Jaclyn Moriarty (just one name this time, how original!) (I love the surname: Moriarty) (If you don't know who Moriarty is, check this)
Jaclyn Moriarty is the most amazing authoress I have ever read books of. She wrote a lot of books, mostly about the school Ashbury in Castle Hill (Australia). There's a lot of characters that keep coming back in her books, such as Lydia, Emily, Cassie, Astrid, Toby, etc. It's not very interesting to read these names without knowing who they are.

All the books she's written are:
Feeling Sorry for Celia
Finding Cassie Crazy (or: The Year of Secret Assignments)
The Betrayal of Bindy Mackenzie
Dreaming of Amelia
The Spellbook of Listen Taylor
I have a Bed made of Buttermilk Pancakes

I've read them all, except the Spelbook of Listen Taylor and I have a bed and so on. I just finished Dreaming of Amelia. It was one of the most amazing books I´ve ever read! I laughed out loud and it got a little scary sometimes! (And note: I do read a lot of books). I love Moriartys books because her characters are so different but still I know them all so well. It's really like they're my friends (that sounds very stupid, but it's also very true)

I even want to buy them all! I've read most of them in Dutch, except Dreaming of Amelia (which I actually bought, the rest I got from the library), but I want to read them in English too. I find that books in their original language are better than translated into Dutch. Especially when they're translated into Dutch. So, I'm going to buy them all :)

You can check her official website or her blog.

Love,
Mia, dreaming of Amelia

PS: My mum just handed me a lovely pink flower. I smelled it and it reminds me that summer is coming. Mixed feelings.

No idea what this post's gonna be about

Hey!

Today I´m going to talk about randomness. I really don´t know where this is going to lead us to.

First I would like to thank Mirjam (the other Mirjam, not me) for commenting on one of my posts. I am glad to inform you, and all my readers, that you were the first to comment!! A huge thank you for you (here it comes:)

THANK YOU!!

I did thank you in real life, but now I realise that it wasn't enough. You have no idea how much I appreciated it :) So thank you.

Today Term 4 started. I hate that, I'm nearly going to cry. At first I was happy: it's the last Term of this year that's been really hard! But then I thought: I've finally just got used to the idea of being a 5th year student and I kind of like our class. I don't really talk to the majority of the students, but I've got used to them. I know what I can expect and how to respond to things they say. I'm just saying that I hope things won't be too different next year, with the exams coming up and everyting.
Thus, my feelings about the very last Term of this year are mixed. Very mixed, confusing and annoying. Don't get me wrong: I hate school and I love recess of course! I just don't like changing of my environment. It's weird, I know.

Something else that keeps bothering me lately is my hair. I love the colour and everything, but my hair kind of died. All these dead ends sticking out on places where they shouldn't and that happens more frequently these days. I've made an appointment with hairdresser next Saturday, hoping that I can hold on that long. I don't suppose I will chew off my hair within this week, so I'm confident so far.

I'm nervous because of my grades, I have no idea what to expect of them. And that is all I'm going to say about school now. If you want to know more about my schoolwork and how I'm coping; e-mail me and we'll talk privatly where I can scream and stamp my feet at the right time in the conversation. (obviously I didn't mean talking privatly online, but in real life, or I would still not be able to stamp my feet)

Recently I bought The Sims Medieval. I like it very much, but I was afraid I'd get addicted to it. Turns out I'm immune for it and my sister's playing it while I'm writing this, and probably playing it when you read this. She's not used to gaming, I am.
No, I'm not addicted to games. Never have been. I'm addicted to shoes. I used to be addicted to hats, but that changed slowly from 'I need a new hat' to 'hats are nice' to 'I need shoes that suit the hats I have' to 'I need shoes'. It'll probably change to dresses, to skirts, to jeans, to cardigans. It'll never stay this way for long, which is a good thing 'cause I'll have a lot of shoes if this addiction doesn't end soon...
I will not bore you much longer with shoes though, I've made too much shoe related posts lately. I'll move on to something else, but I'll have to think of something.

In fact; I'm going to think of something right now,

Much love for my dead hair and shoe-addiction,
Mia

PS: I've got just one shoe-post coming up, guys, sorry!

Script Frenzy

Hey there!

A while ago I found something on the internet: NaNoWriMo. It's a website where you can join to write a novel in only one month. I actually wanted to join it, but I was too late. Then I got an e-mail about Script Frenzy. It's technically the same, but this is more focussed on dialogue writing. If you want to join now, you have one day less, just like me because I kind off forgot all about it untill now.
I just started my stage play, and I've only made up my mind about the characters. I've got four names. I'm not that far yet..
I'm very excited about this, because I really want to make the 100 pages before the 30th of April. It's just so hard to think of a story, and to tell it just in dialogue. As you guys probably know, I love mysteries. I just have to make one up to write it.
As I'm writing this blogpost, I'm still thinking about the story, so I'm kind off distracted.
Anyhow, I wanted to get this out there in the world: I'm joining the Script Frenzy and I think you should too. Well, maybe not this april, but next year. You can also join the NaNoWriMo in november!

^That's me, by the way

Love,
Mia
